Koronadal hosted NTS and board meeting
Thirty-one participants,
leaders coming from a broad spectrum of denominational background and profession, representing the LGU, business, academe,
health, clergy and other sectors of the community, finished PHIAA’s National Seminar conducted on June 10-14, 2008 at
the posh Del Rio Splash Resort in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, also the venue for the PHIAA national board meeting that
followed on June 14-15. It was the 2nd NS in Koronadal and the nth PHIAA seminar in that city, home of the ever-passionate
HI regional representative for Southeast Asia Susan Chomi, and probably the most vibrant PHIAA chapter.
The graduation
ceremony on the afternoon of June 14 was, in the language of PHIAA national president Reiner Puno, unique because it was the
first where the PHIAA president, executive director, seminar committee chair and regional representative were in attendance.
President Reiner gave an emphatic challenge to the graduates taking a cue from the example of Daniel, encouraging them to
be modern Daniels who never compromised his spiritual convictions for worldly gains, and be pro-actors of change.
The visiting
HI facilitators and board members were privileged to experience Koronadal hospitality. Worth mentioning were the tours,
particularly the one to the nearby lake-over-the-mountain Sebu, the fast-becoming-popular tilapia delicacies produced in there,
the tuna-enriched sumptuous foods, the fun-filled dinners, and the assortment of fruits, most notable was the ‘smells-like-hell-but-tastes-like-heaven’
protein-rich durian that came in several varieties.
For many participants,
the seminar was an eye opener. “Now we have found…” was how one participant summarised her experience.
Another realized the importance of starting a day right by spending time, even in silence, with God. That the seminar
hit its objective of challenging mindsets to hopefully bring social change was obvious, which offered the hosts and organizers
solace and fulfilment for all the resources of time, money and efforts they invested.
As hosts, the Koronadal team was a hard act to follow, making one to love keep coming back
for more! And with them we say, all glory be to God for all that has been accomplished for His name’s sake.
